Construction of the new Finnish Aviation Museum begins in April 2026 in Aviapolis, Vantaa. The museum is scheduled to open in late 2027–early 2028 and will feature modern exhibition spaces showcasing the history and future of aviation. The approximately 7,000 m² building will also include event spaces, a café, a museum shop, and flight simulators. The project aims to attract over 100,000 visitors annually.
The project is funded by the state, the City of Vantaa, and private contributors, with a total budget of 25 million euros. Private funding will make it possible to create the exhibitions, provide services, and relocate and preserve the museum’s collections. To achieve this, we aim to raise an additional 5 million euros—so further support is still needed.
The museum takes into account environmental responsibility as well as social and cultural sustainability. In spring 2024, the Finnish Aviation Museum began its journey toward a sustainability certificate. We chose the Good Travel Seal by Green Destinations, a certification that values not only environmental efforts but also social responsibility. The audit took place in June, and the certificate was officially granted on June 2025.
