This year, the European Heritage Days focus on the theme “Architectural Heritage: Windows to the Past, Doors to the Future.” At the Vantaa City Museum, visitors can attend lectures and guided tours related to the topic. The event promotes awareness of Europe’s cultural diversity and the importance of heritage preservation. In Finland, special attention is given to everyday local environments.

At 14:00, aviation historian Dr. Panu Nykänen will give a lecture on the history and significance of Helsinki-Vantaa Airport, built in the early 1950s and now a key part of a growing urban area.
The day also includes tours and talks on local railway architecture and history.
