Architectural Heritage – Event at Vantaa City Museum on August 30

Mustavalkoinen valokuva, jossa näkyy vanhoja autoja pysäköitynä rakennuksen eteen. Rakennuksen katolla näkyy lennonjohtotorni. Etualalla liehuu kolme lippua: vasemmalla epäselvä Suomen lippu, keskellä olympialippu ja oikealla Suomen lippu. Taustalla on metsäinen maisema ja joukko ihmisiä kokoontuneena rakennuksen edustalle. Kuva on otettu 1952.

This year, the European Heritage Days focus on the theme “Architectural Heritage: Windows to the Past, Doors to the Future.” At the Vantaa City Museum, visitors can attend lectures and guided tours related to the topic. The event promotes awareness of Europe’s cultural diversity and the importance of heritage preservation. In Finland, special attention is given to everyday local environments.

Location: Vantaa City Museum, Hertaksentie 1
Date & Time: Saturday, August 30, 11:00–16:00
Free entry

At 14:00, aviation historian Dr. Panu Nykänen will give a lecture on the history and significance of Helsinki-Vantaa Airport, built in the early 1950s and now a key part of a growing urban area.

The day also includes tours and talks on local railway architecture and history.
