The Finnish Aviation Museum operates in facilities that are technically at the end of their lifecycle, and the lease agreement is also expiring in the coming years. Therefore, the museum needs to build a modern, sustainable, and attractive museum for various customer groups right next to the current museum and near the airport. How funds are used?
Need for private funding: five million euros
The Finnish Aviation Museum received an investment grant from the Ministry of Education and Culture in 2024, which partially covers the costs of constructing the new building – but not the museum’s content, the presentation of content, such as the costs of exhibitions. Therefore, we still need funding for the design and construction of exhibitions, services, and modern facilities, as well as for the relocation and preservation of collections. Exhibitions
Human stories, amazing aircraft, and the connection of aviation history to our everyday lives. In the new exhibition, you will be able to understand the causes, consequences, and relationships of things. The themes that connect the content are internationality, development, and people.

Collections
The Finnish Aviation Museum is the national aviation responsibility museum, which comprehensively collects materials related to Finland’s civil and military aviation. The focus of our collections is on domestic aviation, aircraft designed or used by Finns, and the contribution of Finns to both domestic and international aviation. The collections include photographs, documents, and literature, which are a nationally valuable treasure trove of aviation knowledge. The Aviation Museum’s collections contain about 10,000 items – moving and preserving the collections to the New Aviation Museum is a significant operation for which we need support.

Restoration and conservation
Restoration of historical aircraft is one of the most classic forms of volunteer work at the Finnish Aviation Museum. Through restoration, we pass on aviation history and valuable cultural heritage to future generations.
