The New Aviation Museum will open in the Aviapolis area at the turn of 2027–2028. The museum is looking for an operator to run a restaurant or café. To prepare for this selection, the museum invites interested parties to discuss the opportunity during autumn 2025.
The museum will be located in Vantaa Aviapolis district, with excellent public transport connections. The new Vantaa light rail will run nearby, and the area is being developed with housing for up to 25,000 residents. The museum aims to become the “living room of Aviapolis”, and the restaurant will play a key role in this.
The restaurant will be located right next to the exhibitions. The current space plan allows for about 50 customer seats.
The goal is for the restaurant to be open at least during the museum’s opening hours, with the possibility for extended hours.
The restaurant is also expected to serve museum guests and provide catering for events held outside regular opening hours. Visitors should feel welcome to stop by just for the restaurant or combine their visit with the museum experience. The museum’s flexible event spaces can host larger gatherings as well. The restaurant should be ready to offer breakfast, lunch, afternoon coffee, and evening service. A license to serve alcohol is required.
The chosen restaurant operator will work closely with the New Aviation Museum team in planning the restaurant concept, interior design, and equipment needs.
Those interested in these discussions should contact the museum’s Customer Service Manager, Hilla Leikas (hilla.leikas@ilmailumuseo.fi), by August 31. Discussions will tentatively take place in September. These talks are exploratory and non-binding. The museum aims to finalize an agreement with the selected restaurant partner by the end of 2025.
