The New Aviation Museum will be an engaging cultural center aiming to attract over 100,000 annual visitors. Construction will take place in Vantaa’s Aviapolis area, next to the current museum. A-Insinöörit has been chosen as the project management consultant.
The project enters the planning phase this spring and will be developed using a collaborative model involving museum staff, construction experts, the future contractor, and architects. User needs are being explored through workshops, and architectural design will take shape during spring and autumn 2025. A contractor is expected to be selected by fall.
Project manager Roope Haimila of A-Insinöörit, an aviation enthusiast himself, notes the rarity of such a project:
“Museums—especially aviation museums—are not built every year. This is a once-in-a-career opportunity.”
The New Aviation Museum is scheduled to open by the end of 2027. It is partially funded by a state investment grant, with private funding being sought for exhibitions. The aim is to create a space that inspires curiosity and offers surprising insights into aviation.
The current Aviation Museum will remain fully open to the public until 2026.
