”Pou-du-Ciel” – “Build it yourself plane”
100,00 €
The Pou-du-Ciel (“Taivaankirppu” in Finnish) was designed by French engineer Henri Mignet (1893-1965) as a DIY airplane for the common man in the 1930s. Finland also caught the “Flea fever,” and by the mid-1930s, three flying “Fleas” were built in the country. However, due to design flaws related to its flight characteristics, Mignet’s flying “Flea” was ultimately deemed too dangerous to fly and was banned in Finland in 1939. The Aviation Museum Association’s Tuesday Club at the Finnish Aviation Museum built a according to Mignet’s original instructions between 1994 and 1997, and this “Kirppu” can be found in the current museum exhibition.
