Aviation artist Antti Salminen depicts the moment when an engine broke loose from a JU-52/3m OH-ALL aircraft above the Turku archipelago.
On November 10, in 1937, the aircraft JU-52/3m OH-ALL, also known as Kaleva, was flying above the Turku archipelago when its middle engine broke away. The aircraft managed to land at Turku Airport with two engines.
Antti Salminen (b. 1952) is an artist from Oulu whose interests include history. He specializes in painting real events and does thorough background reseearch for his art. The print bears the signatures of Aero Oy’s flight captains Helge Laitinen and Wolmar Laurila.
