The Finnish Aviation Museum is committed to long-term responsibility work and to promoting sustainable travel. The museum takes into account environmental responsibility as well as social and cultural sustainability. The goal is to offer visitors and partners responsible experiences that support both the preservation of cultural heritage and the building of a sustainable future.
Good Travel Seal Certificate
In spring 2024, the museum applied for the Good Travel Seal certificate from Green Destinations. The certificate recognizes both environmental and social responsibility. It provides a clear model for developing and monitoring sustainability work. Each level of the certificate ends with an audit, and scores are published publicly, making the work transparent.
The certification process began in autumn 2024 and involved teams from property management, collections, and customer service. The criteria were also reviewed with the New Aviation Museum project team to include sustainability in future plans. The audit took place in June 2025, and the certificate was awarded on 25 June 2025.
Support came from the KOKEMO project, which promotes sustainable and innovative conferences in the Helsinki metropolitan area. The project provided coaching and made participation in the process smooth and efficient.
The Good Travel Seal certificate is a milestone on the museum’s ongoing responsibility journey. Work on sustainability continues in the current museum and in planning the future New Aviation Museum.
