We will build New Aviation Museum together!

The construction project will be carried out using a collaborative model, where the museum staff, construction experts, the contractor selected for the project, as well as the architect and technical designers, will all participate in the planning of the new museum.

Additionally, a large number of volunteers will be involved in the project, and the museum’s users will be widely engaged in the planning process, both locally and nationally.

Project Organization

The New Aviation Museum brings together the diversity of aviation under one roof; knowledge, the joy of discovery, and people. Incorporating all of this into one building, its functions, and services requires comprehensive expertise. The organization of the New Aviation Museum project consists of professionals from various fields.

Pia Illikainen

Pia is the CEO of the Finnish Aviation Museum Foundation. She is also the project manager for the New Aviation Museum project. Pia is responsible for the project’s administration and finances. In 2015, Pia was attracted to the museum by the opportunity to create a new museum. That journey is now well underway.

Roope Haimila, A-insinöörit

Roope is the project construction consultant. Under Roope’s leadership, the construction project will be completed in close cooperation with the museum staff, designers, and the contractor. Roope also has a special enthusiasm for the field represented by the museum – his free time is pleasantly spent on gliding.

Valeri Saltikoff

Valeri is the project manager for museum conceptualization. He is responsible for the activities of the project’s working groups and coordinates the design of the new museum’s concept. Valeri has a background in narrative tradition research, and he is fascinated by the numerous, incredibly inspiring stories of aviation history.

Työryhmät

The new museum project is carried out in working groups. The project is divided into the following working groups:

What will be experienced in the exhibitions? What stories will we tell? These questions are considered and planned in the exhibition working group, led by exhibition producer Meiju Pax.

The new museum opens up new opportunities for partners and stakeholders. Business development manager Susanna Ahovaara and sales and marketing manager Henri Äijälä are responsible for the project’s fundraising and partnership models.

The Finnish Aviation Museum maintains Finland’s largest aviation collection. The transfer of collections to the new museum and the collection storage center is a unique and undoubtedly attention-grabbing task. Curator Matias Laitinen is responsible for the collection team and the transfer of collections.
