Principles of a Safer Space at the Aviation Museum
Our goal for a safer space is that no one should have to face any form of discrimination, bullying, harassment, or violence at the Aviation Museum. We want everyone to be able to be themselves safely at the Aviation Museum.
Discrimination-Free Aviation Museum
- We do not accept racism, sexism, ageism, transphobia, ableism, body shaming, or other oppressive behavior.
- We respect the identities that individuals define for themselves. We do not make assumptions about others based on gender, ethnicity, culture, background, sexuality, ability, or appearance.
- We do not accept any form of harassment, discrimination, or bullying. We respect everyone’s physical and mental space, as well as their personal boundaries.
Open and Equal Aviation Museum
- We treat everyone equally.
- We encourage asking for help in problematic situations.
- We listen to others and give space for others to speak.
- We accept feedback on our operations and strive to correct identified issues.
Community-Oriented and Conversational Aviation Museum
- We strive for an open and respectful culture of conversation.
- We handle sensitive topics respectfully and sensitively.
Our staff promises to adhere to these principles in their work, and we hope that customers and everyone using the museum’s facilities will also commit to them. The realization of a safer space is the responsibility of everyone through their actions.
The concept of safer spaces originates from subcultures and alternative cultures, particularly events for sexual and gender minorities, where it has been ensured that all participants can be themselves without fear of othering behavior or violence.
